Maudene Nelson, R.D., is a nutritionist (registered dietitian) and a Certified Diabetes Educator. Since 1975 Ms. Nelson has been a nutritionist and instructor at the Institute of Human Nutrition, Columbia University. In addition to providing nutrition counseling to patients, she has co-authored several publications and taught medical, nursing, public health, and graduate nutrition students.

Ms. Nelson received her B.S. in Human Nutrition in 1971 from Cornell University and her M.S. in Public Health Nutrition from Teachers College, Columbia University in 1976. She has been a volunteer and consultant to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, the New York Academy of Medicine, and the National Urban League.
