Dr. Dympna Gallagher Receives Science Unbound Foundation’s Award for Best Paper in 2018

Congratulations to Dympna Gallagher, Professor of Nutritional Medicine (in the Departments of Medicine and the Institute of Human Nutrition) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center on being the recipient of the Science Unbound Foundation’s award for Best Paper in 2018 on obesity-related research by an investigator affiliated with the New York Obesity Research Center.

Dr. Gallagher’s award-wining paper "Greater Neonatal Fat-Free Mass and Similar Fat Mass Following a Randomized Trial to Control Excess Gestational Weight Gain" showed that weight management interventions for pregnant women with overweight and obesity can achieve modest positive impacts on some measures of weight gain during pregnancy.

Dr. Gallagher is also the recipient of the 2019 TOPS Research Achievement Award. The TOPS Research Achievement Award recognizes singular achievements or contributions to research in the field of obesity and is made possible by an annual grant from the Take Off Pounds Sensibly Foundation (TOPS).
